00 XP - no beep when key inserted??

helping a diffrent friend this time, just got a 00 seadoo XP, it started fine when the guy demo'ed it for him, and when he tried it when he first got it home, week later, it will not start, no sounds when the key is inserted, no beeps if you push the start button 4x.

anyone have any ideas on possible causes?! if you hold the start button in, the gauges all give readings (trim / fuel). it gave the correct beep when we put the key in 1 time outa mesing with it for 20min, but not long enough to start it...

put a voltmeter on the battery, it was 12.1volts

we were hoping to take it out tommorow, hopefully nothing major.

Well... you wouldn't get beeps pushing the button 4x. You have to push it 5x... and sometimes 6x if you need one push for an MPEM wake up.

Regardless, the post has probably gone bad, or it needs cleaned. try cleaning the contacts with a scotch bright pad. if that doesn't work, buy a new post. (the switch inside goes bad sometimes)

not sure what it was, we unpluged and pluged everyhting back in, pulled all the fuses (all looked good) put them back in, and now it works....

ran good for a while then started having some other problems, ill let him post about that one..
