so after being in storage for the winter, ever since i started using my boat i have had problems starting it. I turn the ignition and all i get is a beep, after cycling it a few times it starts. It doesnt matter if it is cold or hot it has trouble starting. Now this is not a chronic problem, only some times it does this, most of the time it fires right up.

now once in kelowna it didnt start back up again and i was drifting in the middle of the lake. I got a tow and replaced the battery. now it starts but not all the time, It gives a beep but doesnt turn the engine over.

I have checked the ignition connections and battery terminals everything is tight and clean.

BTW: i did replace the impeller during the winter, and it was not doing this last summer.

any advise would be great!

Moe, are you saying that it doesn't turn over? If so you may have a faulty starter, relay or a bad connection. also the next time it acts up try moving the shifter to make sure the neutral safety switch is OK.

I know your in Chestermere, but if you near Oakridge any time stop by and I can photocopy the wiring diagram out of the manual for you.

I thought it might be the shifter that was causing this....first think I did was move it back and forth still no effect.

I am starting to think it is the starter.

The starter solenoid is external, so it could be the problem as well. If it acts up try and listen for a click noise indicating the solenoid is pulling in when it is supposed to. If it doesn't make any noise either it is bad or not getting the proper signal. If it seems to be working, then suspect the starter.

Next time out bring a test light and something to jump the solenoid along with you.
