Update: pulled each plug wire while idling at 1400, front one dropped idle to 1200, then after reconnecting the front pulled the rear one and stalled the engine. Adjust front idle screw on top of carb 1/4 turn and idled at 2800-3000 perfectly. Starts up and idles 2800-3000 now everytime. Smooth...
Well I guess there is no regulator it appears, just the magneto. I will come back to that another time. Out of curiosity before I start messing with the engine is it possible the pump could be dragging due to old bearings and the machine thinking it’s in the water vs on the trailer? Maybe I...
This morning I started it cold after sitting all night. It fired right up with the choke on for a second. Idle came up to 2600 then within 10 seconds came down to 1400 and sat there and idled. Here are some pics.
This ski is actually not mine. I took it home for a friend because I have had about 10 of these before. I am familiar with the carbon ring issue and burning it up, but thank you for that because a lot of people do not know. Yes the ski appears to have been sitting a while, maybe a year. How do I...
Currently engine idles at 1400rpm on the trailer. I have had a few of these carb models and DIs. Isn’t the carb model supposed to idle at 2800-3000 on the trailer not in water? Seems to have a slight mis while at idle as well. How can I tell if the carb is adjusted correctly or which ones low...
Beyond what was said above my port engine did the same thing and it turned out that all the spark plug tubes leaked oil into the plug holes. ECU was compensating somehow. Pull the plugs and see if the holes have oil in them
For what it’s worth I washed the inside of my boat with buckets of water and the water stayed in my ski locker. It pluggs easy as the hole is small and all the debris goes in there. Just a few plunges with my palm will push it thru and get the hole draining again.
Fiara beede will rebuild your gauge for you for about $90. It can take up to 6 weeks. I had my tachs done. However I did not do the speedo. I replaced with a Amazon China GPS one and love it.
I guess I will do this in the spring too. Lol. Can you post the part numbers for filters? Did you need new oring or flange seal at the pump to tank or were they in good shape?
Are you sure that’s the case? My ski locker has a false bottom. It is flat and is not the Vee shaped part of the hull. It also has a drain hole that goes back to the rear engine compartment. I have never seen water in there ever. It would require half my engines and fuel cell to be underwater...
I will take a look tomorrow, makes sense to me. No idea why the one I took apart would not get hot one bit when draining. The water draining from the engine I didn’t take apart starts warm when it drains then gets pretty hot. Prob from when it’s sitting in there with the hose off engine running...
Just got done with doing some work on my challenger 215s port engine. New HG, thermostat housing…etc. Testing both engines out on the hose to top off coolant on the port and make sure all is good. I noticed something strange.
Port engines IC water is cold
Starboard engine IC water fairly hot...
