    787 Crankshaft, RFI vs Carb

    The crankshaft taper is different. The RFI crank can be used in a carb engine as long as you use the RFI flywheel. I can't remember if you need the Carb mag cup or not. I have a carbed cylinder, RFI cased engine in my 96XP, but can't remember how I got there.

    787 Detonation with my current setup

    What is your mechanical timing? -6 at rev limit seems like not enough, especially depending on what your max timing is. Its going to be basically impossible to run 180psi on a spec2 with 91 octane. You could try 23 degrees max, start retard at 4000-5000 rpm with 17 degrees total at 7000rpm...

    Those screws are JIS. A regular Phillips has a high chance of stripping them. A manual impact and a Vessel brand JIS #2 screwdriver are great for those

    You can also order rebuild kits that replace the brushes and brush holders for the one with the detached copper braid.
