I did not know this but am anxious to test your theory. Would be good if this was the case although seems like Bob's (OP) plugs don't work that way.

I'm sure a faulty computer can do a lot of things including shut things down but can't really say if that is your issue. I've seen four newer machines this year 'sunk' and non of them seem to have problems with electronics. Do note that the newer Sea Doo's are very fussy on a battery being good...

Sorry, it was the PTO end I was referring to. The rubber bumper was stuck in the PTO. Was able to fish it with needle nose. Re that bearing pulling out - it had a bit of play so I think I'm just going to replace the whole pto bearing/seal assembly just in case.

Pulled my pump and shaft out today on my 2011 260 to replace carbon seal, sleave, pto bearing and seal. Was surprised not to see a rubber bumper on the end (see pic). Shouldn't there be one there? Do I have to go fishing in the impeller housing for it? Was also surprised that the pto bearing...

It's a 787. I was way over thinking this. I pulled the air box and exhaust pipe (30 mins) and viola - great access. Not sure where my head was.

Can anyone please tell me how to change the starter on a 3d without pulling the motor. It seems impossible... Thanks

bought a clean used one. Just the tube and the little rubber sliding seal.
