Okay, I bought a 97 Sea-doo xp last week and have been reading alot of post on here about oil. I called the guy i bought it from and he couldnt remember exactly what type of oil he used. He said it was Pennzoil 2-stoke outboard tc-w3. From what i have read in the users manual and on here, that seems to be HORRIBLY WRONG. He had the oil injection blocked off so i mix my gas now. should i drain the oil tank ,gas tank, and motor completely and start over with fresh oil and if so what type of oil should i use. Quicksilver seems to be in best supply around where i live. I believe the user's manual says to use a full synthetic but the guy i bought it from said DO NOT, lol so im in need to some guidance here. Thank you very much in advance for any input.

I would drain the tank and run it out of that gas. You should not use outboard tcw3 oil in pwc. If it was me I would get a good synthetic ,no reason not too, mix it and enjoy.

I was in the exact same situation with my new (to me) ski and after reading everything I could and asking questions in the forum and talking to the local mechanic this is what I did.

I only had about 4-5 gallons of the old premix left in the tank so I went with quicksilver synthetic blend because it has stabilizers in it that help the synthetic and mineral oil blend. (for PWCs of course)

I did not drain the tank. I just added 20 gallons of gas and 2 quarts of oil right on top (40:1) and ran it through.

When it is mixed in the gas it is already diluted quite a bit and I didn't have any problems switching it over this way.

Other people on here might have other suggestions but this was my personal experience. And it will basically come down to what you are comfortable with but I felt like I took the time to educate myself as fully as possible about the oil and everything worked out for me.

I do plan to switch to full synthetic in the future. But I have read that you can go from mineral to synthetic but not from synthetic to mineral so I am going to stick with the blend for now to save money for the other things I still have to repair on the ski.

Hope this helps

if your premixing your fuel ,then the Pennsoil in the tank is fine, since it aint burning into the motor. If you can do "preventative" maintanence.....clean rave valves, remove the grey fuel lines, and go thru the carbs.... burn the quiksilver PWC, either semi or full synthetic...doesnt matter, just the raves might stick sooner than later.

I am actully planning on replacing all the grey lines this weekend after reading about the green goo horror stories lol. I was hoping to re-enable the oil injection again as well. I am trying to get ahold of the guy I bought it from to see exactly how he disabled it, i know he didn't use the block off kit so not sure what he did.

I'm still learning about this so Im not sure about rave valves and such but I plan on rebuilding the carbs over winter.

Also I only know of 2 fuel filters to replace, one on the fuel selecter and one on the baffle did i miss anything. Thanks again for the help guys.

Ok I can't seem to find any quicksilver pwc synthetic/blend all I can find is conventional by the 1/2 quart. Any suggestions? I'm looking for something by the gallon that is good for premixing. Also since I'm premixing does the oil in the resivour that lubes the crankcase need to be the same?

I buy mine at walmart but it's not with the boat stuff. It is on the automotive oil isle.

They may not have it at your wally but I have seen it at everyone I have checked.

The synth blend is in a silver bottle with black and purple on the label

the full synthetic is in a black bottle with bright yellow and pink on the label

You might google it so you can see what it looks like just in case you are overlooking it

there is a filter in the seperator CUP, but not the valve, there is a little filter at the end of the baffle, and there is a filter in the carbs as well that at a minimum need to be cleaned...
