I just spent a half hour on the phone with an Amsoil tech. As I have mentioned in prior threads, I inititally had put Amsoil HP Injector oil in my skis. At the time I was not aware of the Interceptor oil. A few months ago one Amsoil tech told me that HP Injector was Ashless and Interceptor was Low Ash which Seadoo recommends. I called Amsoil this time to see about getting a refund on the 2 gallons of HP Injector that I drained out and replaced with Interceptor. The tech I talked to said we're talking a few parts/million between the low ash and ashless and that as far as the internal lubrication of the engine was concerned both the HP Injector and the Interceptor would perform identically (and he said since I'm using Amsoil that if I pulled the engine apart I would probably find it is perfectly clean). He said the ONLY difference between using the two would be the amount of carbon buildup on the RAVE valves and if I kept those clean using the HP Injector oil is perfectly fine. This is why they rate HP Injector as Very Good for jet ski use and Interceptor as Excelent. He also said the two are compatible and can be mixed.
I went through all this becasue I thought I had $80 worth of Injector oil that I drained out and couldn't use but he said to use it and just keep the RAVE valves clean - which I planned to do regardless of whch oil I use because the first time I cleaned them a few weeks ago they were really bad and 1 on each ski was stuck. So since it only takes a couple minutes those puppies are getting cleaned every 2 weeks!
Anyway do you guys agree with the Amsoil Tech's expert opinion that the only difference between the 2 oils would be the amount of carbon buildup on the RAVEs and I should just go ahead and use up the 2 gallons of Injector I have and then use strictly Interceptor? I also asked if I could mix them so I'm not running pure Injector and he said Yes I could. :cheers:
