Hi
What is the optimal rpm for a XPDI? Mine stops at 6750, where the speed on the meter says 60 miles pr hour. I can see in the manual that the rev limiter will make shut down at 7300 rmp.
As I dont care about top speed but are more interested in holeshot, I wonder if any can help on the optimal rmp so i can eventually install a new impeller.

Thanks in advance

Your statements are almost contradicting, and unrelated. Top RPM really doesn’t have anything to do with the “Hole shot.” If you want to get out of the hole quicker… use a Skat-Trak swirl impeller, at a slightly lower pitch than recommended.

There are two reasons you don’t achieve the stated full RPM. First, it’s because the engine is just running out of power. Eventually the pressure in the pump is as high as the engine can push… and the RPM’s don’t continue to climb as long as you aren’t cavitation. Second… the stated max RPM is where your rev limiter will kick in… and you aren’t suppose to be bouncing off the limiter all the time.

With that said… your engine sounds like it’s running fine. If you want to gain a few 100 RPM… put on an aftermarket pipe.
