xp boggs on low throttle

XP idles fine but when I give it throttle it boggs and dies. I can hammer the throttle and it will clean out and run ok. Wondering if it's xcelerator pump or maybe just in need of a carb rebuild? Any ideas or similar issues? Also wondering about jetting I live at 5500 feet and I know I'm not getting full rpm. Should I leave it alone or jet it for my elevation? Thanks

If it's running O.K. at speed I would just adjust the idle. Should be about 3000rpm on the trailer and about 1500 in the water. I like to adjust mine just a touch higher to get rid of most of the rattle.

what year?
does it have the factory grey lines?
did you check all your connections mpem, the lanyard,the battery is tight.

im sure a few of the gurus will chime in...

It's a 97. Yeah it still has the grey lines, and I am planning on changing those out tonight. Everything else is tight and clean. It acts funny cause if you ride it for 10 minutes or so it does get better on the bottom, but shut it off and it will bogg and act up.

PS I did change out plugs too.
