Wrinkled pump Diaphragm

Hi all

I'm rebuilding my carbs with the "onlyseadoos" kit. The issue is I keep on wrinkling my clear pump diaphragm and gasket. The wrinkle happens when pop-off test is performed. (a weak pop-off happening at about 40psi) Its like a build up of pressure is center on one area of the diaphragm/gasket/o-ring then blows thru making the wrinkle. I have gone through three sets of diaphragms and gaskets. And on all three sets the wrinkle happens in the same place. The metal surfaces are clean and free of old gasket. The o-ring looks good but i flipped it over and rotated it for good measure. I also tried all forms of torque on the screws.

I'm at a loss at this point. Any input or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

You are talking about the 2 clear circle diaphrams? You'r sure your not damaging them putting them in? They are a little tricky to get in correctly. I have rebuilt many Mikuni's in Polaris, Yamaha's, and Seadoo's and never had an carb destroy those gaskets doing a popoff test. You are only looking for 38 PSI popoff accroding to the manual for the 97' 717's and 787's.

It was the the first big clear one... the one that "pulses". I think I solved it by reuseing the four old screws. Odd I know.
Thanks for the reply!
