Bumping this to you guys, as the 3d users are not active it seems this time of year.

Wanted to know about winterizing a 2005 3d, (787cc) as this will be my first time doing it ( it was under warranty for 5 years:). I think i got the fogging down, but i was wondering about the anti freeze part of it. It is on an open cooling system and I just wanted to make sure I got the freeze in the right tubes! Also, The doo will be stored in my semi-heated garage...is this step necessary? I wanna keep rust off of everything, so I am leaning towards doing this anyway, but just wanted some insight as to whether or not I HAD to do it. Thanks!

If you are keeping it a garage that won't freeze... then the anti-freeze isn't needed.

Get fuel stabilizer int he tank, and run it into the engine.

Fog the engine.

Make sure there isn't any residual water in the pipe... and put it to bed.

If it is going to freeze... you will need to get some anti-freeze into the engine. The essayist way is to start by blowing the engine out with compressed air... and then pour some into the flush connector.

Oh... make sure there isnt' any water sitting int eh bottom of the hull when you park it.

If you have the service manual it will give you an exact procedure.

Good luck

I would say do it even if it is in a heated garage. I lose power at least once a year during the winter, usually for less than an hour or two, but once I lost it for more than 48 hours (I had to pack up and go stay at the in-laws).

Running antifreeze through the machine is a simple process. It's worth the few minutes to know you are covered.

Also, the antifreeze is not to prevent rusting, that is what fogging is for. The antifreeze prevents the engine from cracking, as when water freezes, it expands and could cause the water jackets to crack.

Here is a link on adding antifreeze to the 787 with a pic for reference.
