Hey, can you guys hear your systems while driving? Up to what speed??? Do you think a wakeboarder could hear the music as well?

I am considering trying something like this on my 07 GTX, but I want to educate myself and only drill once!!!

How is the bass on those speakers??

Thanks!

I can hear it at 45 mph and make out the words, the third person can hear the beat but not all the words. Bass is drowned out at this speed. It's been too cold to pull anyone behind yet. I can hear it from 4 houses down when it's on in the backyard.

Cool.

Do you have a list of parts that you used? and a rough total? This maybe my summer project. 45mph is impressive.

I used:
1/2 tube of Plumber's Goop,

1 package of 6 water-resistant quick connects. (male and female) from the local auto parts store.

1 starfrit "lock-n-lock" brand container for the amp.

The battery I use came with my seascooter, you can just attach the power cables to the seadoo battery if you don't want the added expense of another battery.

4 nuts and bolts to attach the starfrit lid to the underside of the storage lid,

all in all, I think I paid about $25 for all the parts.

The longest part of the install is gooping the holes in the container and lids. I did it in stages,

I gooped the hole in the the storage bin lid with the wires coming through from the top first, waited 24 hours and then gooped the underside of the lid,
*** once the goop is cured, you cannot move the cables, so ensure you have enough length coming out the underside of the storage lid before you goop the top.

Then I attached the starfrit lid with the nuts and bolts, make sure you goop the bolts on the underside of the starfrit lid and also around the top of the storage cover where the bolts come through after you have it securely tightened. I used some styrofoam spacers between the starfrit lid and the storage bin lid, so as not to pinch the cables and wires.
I gooped all around the wires where they enter the top of the starfrit lid to be extra safe.

I was out this past Sunday and turned the ski over, by accident. It was under for about 20 seconds while I made sure the kids were ok. within 5 seconds of righting the ski, the music was back on. No water in the starfrit container where the amp is. :) The glove box was full of water, luckily my MP3 player was also in a starfrit container. :) Some call me anal, and it's after times like that where I'm glad that I am.:)

Use as much goop as you feel is necessary. My thought is better to put too much and not need it than not enough and need it after the fact. Nobody can see the goop on mine unless I remove the front storage lid. I hope this helps.

PS I also sprayed water across the gooped holes to ensure they were water-tight before moving on to the next step.

edit.. the water resistant connectors were only needed because I was connecting to my seascooter battery. If you plan to wire straight to the seadoo battery, I don't think you'll need them.

I can hear mine AT 70 MPH AND MY FRIENDS THAT I RIDE WITH CAN HERE ME WHILE THEY ARE RIDING WITH ME AT THAT SPEED AS WELL. IF YOU WANT A REAL SYSTEM ON YOUR SEADOO DOING IT MY WAY IS THE WAY TO GO . I SHOULD HAVE A 4 CHANNEL AMP AND 10INCH SUB INSTALLED ON HER REAL SOON.

I just want to state that my stereo does go louder than when I can hear it at 45mph. It's just that if I turn it up so that the person at the back can hear, I find it too loud for me at the front. Since it's my baby, I never ride at the back ;)

Ok this threads been around for some time...

Has anyone had any :reddevil: issues pop up that would make me not want to add a stero to one of my units. I'm needing mainly when we are at the beach or sand bar to have tunes w/ the friends.

I mean any cracked plastic from waves, any more shorted out units, etc...

I've had tugboat wakes come over my ski with quite some force and flipped my ski over for about 20 secs with no damage or ill effects :)

Iam wondering if I should do this I have tryed once before but the amount of time I spend fliped over is quite high.

The amount of time you stay under has no effect on the speakers, but it will have an effect on the amp unless you make sure it is 100% water tight. The way I've done mine, (pics up top) it is 100% water tight and air tight. :)
