Winter Seadoo Audio Project FINALLY COMPLETE!

Hey guys,

Yeah i put audio on my seadoo and boy does it ROCK! WOW! I know its 100watts but this thing really puts out the sound! :) It cost me about $104 bucks well spent. Bought a Shark 100 Watt Waterproof speaker kit w/ 100watt amplifier ($100 with shipping). I also had to get a longer MP3 cable to run to the front of the boat ( $4.00 on ebay) not a big deal. If you look at the pictures it isn't perfect but it looks good for what i put into it. Didn't really want to drill into the hood but i definitely wanted audio on the water! ha ha :hurray:. Decided to drill anyways which ended up perfect! Didn't really want to drill a hole for the speaker wire due to having to drill a 1/2" hole due to the connection being so big! :ack: so i just ran them around the back. I ran the wires up the back of the backside of the hood which worked out great for a clean design! I plan on using silicone to seal the few drilled holes. Also, ran the mp3 cable and remote ( came with the kit ) to the middle console. I re-sealed that up and it should be waterproof now due to my old seal definitely showing its beating. Other than that, the battery is the only problem i am having. I've been looking for a battery box and i was going to mount the battery in the front storage compartment as shown. I do not plan on routing the battery to the main battery due to running the radio on this battery lasting a decent 6.5 hours which is plenty (I think i'm just gonna charge it before i go out). Also, the wire looks a little nasty routing into the front storage container but i haven't decided what i want to do yet (Bugging me bigtime!). If you guys have any ideas i would greatly appreciate it! I've been contemplating on doing this forever and i finally broke down this winter and bought the stuff and it's quite a system. I will definitely not have a problem hearing it! When i got the idea about 5 months ago searched and searched the internet and could rarely find pictures of setup systems, so i decided to post knowing someone out there is looking for some pics! Ha ha! Let me know cause this thing rocks when you crank it up!

I am in the process of looking for a second battery option

Looks good man!! I ended up running my wires behind mirrors for a cleaner install. I also just bought a battery box which will mount aside the front storage compartment. I plan to use 2 batteries and just use one for the radio. I'm probably just gonna charge the battery before i go out and use it til it dies, that way i'm not putting a huge load on the charging system. Also, i know it will start everytime because i'm not draining the starter battery! :hurray:

looks pretty cool. I got a separate battery for my system also. It is important to give the battery a good mount so it doesnt smash things up when you hit waves. here is what my system looks like. i used a marine stereo deck and I am also adding a 1400 watt amp for more sound.

Final Product!!

Here is the final product. I placed the battery in a battery box mounted to the bottom of the front storage compartment. I also make some modifications to the way the wires were ran. The speakers wires were originally ran on the outside of the front hood, however i decided that looked bad so i ran them underneath and behind the mirrors on the hood. Gives it a much cleaner looking install. Now all i need is the temperature to rise and the water to warm up so i can get on the water!! :hurray:

NEW install with the wires hidden behind the mirrors.

Speaker view from the front of my ski. Wire next to impossible to see :hurray:

Amp Mounted on the underside of front hood. Drilled hole for wiring filled with silicone

Battery Mounted in battery box, inside front storage compartment. Might run the wire through the hole i drilled and filled, however i seem to take the storage compartment out alot so i may just leave it. I just worry about the wire getting worn out from opening and closing the front hood.

Finally, Remote and mp3 player mounted inside middle storage compartment. May move the remote outside depending on how much the volume needs to be adjusted.

That's my ski.

Where can I find it?

Where did you guys get you stuff. has anyone thought about pkging a deal for those of us who want to do the same to our ski's? Just did a 98 mile trip and really need MUSIC!

Well, I've had it out for 5 hours and my ipod died before the battery did. It really doesn't use much battery power and i've checked it one i got home and it was only .7 of an amp low of full charge. :)

It's a nice system!

wait till it gets moist

The speakers last a little longer, but the remote control shorts right out, the unit loses its screen, then it just stops working.....

Well that was my experience with it........

I hope you have better results. I even bought the sub woofer and put it above the gas tank only to see it short out from moisture. I have no idea why they think it's water proof!!

My new system installed.

While installing this unit I burned through one of the speaker wires. I didn't notice it and though the left side was out. I e-mailed the company and told them I had already installed the speakers and didn't want to take it all apart to send it back. They said they aim to please and to just send back the amp and they would send me a new one. Then I found the broken wire. I wrote them back and thanked them for their quick service but ,, oups my fault. The point is they stood behind their product. So far it works great in the garage. Hope to get it to the lake in a few weeks when I get my new pump back.

I'm going to remember this Post next summer, I want to see who's system worked the best. You would think that after all these years manufactures have been making pwc that one of them would have come up with a system.

Battery

I have only had my ski on the water once for about 30 minutes, but it worked great & soundes great....
I made the wire long enough so that with the ski on the trailer I can take out the rear storage bin and sit it on the ground without disconecting the battery. To get to the ski battery.

I dont know about anyone else but that seems a little ghetto no ? Get creative guys make some custom mirror pods and do it up custom its really not that complicated to wip up some resin and fiberglass a little bondo . Lets get the custom audio rolling on these SEADOOS . If anyone wants pics of what I have done and what Im doing now just email me and I can give you guys some tips on what to do and how to do it . Oh and just so everyone knows Ive been in the audio business for 9 years . MECP certified BRONZE,SILVER ,AND GOLD . MOBILE DYNAMICS GRAD AND a licensed 12 volt accessorie TECH .

I agree with "kidcml" it does look a little ghetto with the exposed wires. I did see the custom enclosures that they put in where the mirrors go, now that's an awesome setup. Might take a little more time and money, but i think the outcome is well worth it. Hey "kidcml" do you have any idea what some of these speaker mirrors might cost to get done. I'm very interested in one of these custom setups.

hey guys well its not very hard to do like i said just buy some fiberglass , resin and bondo. If anyone wants to see what my mirrors with speakers in them look like let me know just email me at innovativemobile@hotmail.com and i can forward you pictures . U cant even tell that my mirrors have speakers in them other than the mirror no longer beeing there . because I mounted them from the back and then covered the front mirror plate in grill cloth. LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT PICS JUST EMAIL ME WITH THE REQUEST AND I MIGHT HAVE PICS OF MY NEW SETUP BY THEN.

Finally Finished

:hurray::hurray: Well, I'm finished my stereo. I used plumbers goop to seal all the holes. In the front storage bin, I used a Star-Frit Lock 'n' lock container (air tight, water tight) to house the amp. I screwed the container lid to the SeaDoo compartment lid and sealed the top of the SeaDoo lid as well as the underside of the lock 'n' lock container. I put velcro to hold the amp to the bottom of the lock 'n' lock container. The reason I Screwed the container lid is so I can simply unlock the tabs and remove the amp to take inside. I'm using a SeaDoo Seascooter (sealed lead acid) battery to power it. It's a 12 volt battery. I've had the stereo running for about 8 hours and it's still at 12 volts. I figure I'll be able to get 20-30+ hours per charge. My Mom sewed some velcro straps to hold the battery in place and I bolted them to the rear storage container, applying the pumbers goop to seal the holes. I have water resistant connectors so I can remove the storage container when needed. I mounted the speakers up high on the front cover, behind the steering column as to keep them from covering the mirrors. The placement does not interfere with the steering either. It's taken way longer than I planned, but I'm happy with the result. I can't wait to get it out on the water this weekend. :) :)
