will anything help remove with corrosion?

i have a 787 with lots of white corrosion i am trying to remove it from the cylinder o-ring channel and just about every bolt. is there any chemical that will help to remove it? i have been using little screw drivers but am getting worried of scratching it up to much

Wd40 makes a product that I used rebuilding my motor. I can't remember the name but it has a yellow cap instead of the red cap.

does the aluminium have a coating? if you use a dremel or a sand blaster do the internal bare aluminum need to be re-coated with anything like inside the cylinder water jackets?

Bead blaster like Spim posted, or use a drill and a small wire wheel to clean the groove. I prefer a bead blaster, but I have access to a killer one. Your talking about the groove where the black O-ring is right? Also for the bolts I bead blast them too, but you can put the head of the screw in your drill and use a wire brush to clean them up (see the last pic). If your cleaning the screws from corrosion(white powder) your going to need to chase the threads of the cylinders that the screws thread into. If not you'll get a bad reading while torquing the head back down.

for the bolts, you could just replace them with cleaner bolts, or run them thru the wire brush on the drill routine, or, besides the vice in my garage, my favorite thing is the bench grinder with a wire brush,, its amazing how quickly a bolt cleans up, like 8 seconds.

If I may ask a silly question.... at what stage are you in right now, what are you trying to accomplish...? did you just take the head off, or are you putting it back on.. why did you take the head off in the first place.
