Who is upside down - SBT or Bombardier?

Hi,

I have a 2002 GTX RFI and am reassembling onto my newly rebuilt SBT short block. In the documentation from SBT, they show the oil injection lines coming up from the bottom, but in the Bombardier/Seadoo shop manual, the lines are shown coming down from the top. Which one is correct?

One is a carb manifold… the other is a DI? Do it the way you need for your engine.

Both engines are RFI (which I though was for fuel injection) which means there would be no carb - just a throttle body. I could install the rotary valve cover either way.

The RV cover will only go on one way. Just install it. As you can see in the pictures, only one of those engines is RFI.

BUT… Seadoo has a tendency to use old picture in their service manuals. Even if you have the manual for your boat… they will just reuse pictures they had. (that’s why they used the pic of a carb engine)

Thanks for everyone's help. The RV cover only went on one way so the question is moot. I guess the picture out of the service manual was not correct.

btw, just started her up and running well (not perfect, but well). Now if only i knew how it was supposed to run - the carbon ring on the drive shaft wobbles a bit and gets a little warm.

Careful… the carbon ring is cooled and lubed from the water it’s sitting in. you will kill it if you run it dry!! Run only 15 seconds out of water… no more. If you need to work on the engine… lube it well with soapy water, or a little grease.
