Where is this hose/line supposed to go?

Draining the 2 cycle oil from the oil tank, 98 Seadoo GTS. In the process I found a couple things that puzzled me.

First photo on the left, a shot from the back of the Seadoo. This small line coming out that I am pointing to. Mine goes down to the hull and up under the engine and is just laying loosely under there, not attached to anything. Where should it go?

Also, this other shot of the top of the oil tank, the oil tank is removed and sitting sideways. There is one large line that goes from the top of this tank to the underside of the exhaust manifold. The connector that connects it to the top of the oil tank has a small line on the opposite side and mine has nothing connected to it.

It appears to be a check valve maybe with no hose/line on it. Is this related to the line I found coming from the back of the Seadoo? It appears to be the same size as the connector is why I ask. If not, what should this be connected to if anything at all?

Man these things are oily machines. Seems like every time I open it up there is oil in the bottom of the hull. And yes, my thumb is supposed to bend like that.

Thanks.

the first pic looks like it may be vent line for your battery. the second pic is just a vent for you oil tank it doesnt hook to anything.

Good to know about the tube on the tank, thanks.

The other small line is not near the battery. It is in the back of the Seadoo right below the grab handle at the rear most section of the seat. The battery is up front.

Yep... what he said.

Yes... the fitting is on the back breather, so any acid that leaks, goes out the back, and get's washed off the ski. The hose goes from that fitting, to the battery box. (or, at least it should)

lth8181 is correct. The small hose that connects at the rear of the ski is the battery vent. It should run from there to the battery up front. It is not used if you have a sealed battery.

Sorry Doc.......we were typing at the same time.

Yep, all you guys are exactly right. I wondered what the little hose clip beside the battery was and that was it.

And while I have all this knowledge here, the oil filter on the line coming from the oil tank. Can I just get a similar generic in line oil filter or is there something specific to these I should look for? This one looks pretty old.

Thanks!

If you can find an "oil Filter" like the one in our seadoo's... I guess it would be fine. BUT... I don't think I would trust a "Fuel Filter" in that spot.

As above... the OEM filter isn't very expensive... and we know they work.

this... except on the wishbone XPs its under the seat so when your battery overflows it comes out and runs down over the graphics on the side of the ski, making them look like hell.

I have used an oil filter for an older Evinrude/Johnson before, very similar, but actually costs more, but in a pinch, they have them at Stokley Marine in Nicholasville.
