Where did all that water come from?

The 717's in my Speedster do not operate well when immersed to the plugs in rainwater. I have pumped them out in the past by removing plugs and cranking repeatedly, but this time I got creative and applied a shop vac to open plug holes while cranking. GEEZ-O-PETE! Got probaly 2 Gals out.....much more than ever before! Runs well now, whereas before it was very balky for quite awhile after the cleanout. Am unfamiliar with the internal anatomy. Was all that water really inside those engines, or did I manage to pull it from some other source. Where?

The water was in the engine... That's why it is important to remove the water after a flooding like that as quickly as possible, to prevent corrosion to the internals and bearings.

I would also recommend spraying the engine down with some kind of moisture displacer such aswd-40. I would also put a little oil in each cylinder and then turn the engine over to coat the internals.

Good plan........I put in a little Sea Foam already, but I also love WD-40. I wonder if something as thick as 30 weight motor oil would get down to where it needs to go, or is it too viscous to flow? Hmmmmmmm.......

An ounce or two of 30W in the plug holes is a good way for oil to get to the internals. Crank the engine over after you put the plugs back in and the oil spreads better.
