What's This Loop For?

In the middle of the canvas cover for my Challenger there's a loop and a small reinforced patch holding it to the cover. Any idea what the loop is for? Is it just to hang it from when the cover's off?

The patch might be for a "run off" pole. To hold the cover up higher to let the water run off and not settle in a low spot.
The loop is to hold the pole in place so it doesn't slip out.
Some covers have a grommet that a small rod on top of the pole fits into, but some of those leak.

This is only a guess as I make my own poles and cover support patches out of carpet.

That's what I thought, but the loop is on the outside? You'd have to string it from a tree...

Now there's a thought. Except there's no way to install this cover since there's no cut-outs for a tower... :dunno:

you got me on this one. Check the make of the cover and call them. Maybe the P.O. just got any cover that would fit.

Was that a brand new cover you bought? It looks like something someone else may have added to me. I would guess something for either hanging it up or to pull it up and keep rain off.

Mine has the exact same loop on the outside.
I've killed more than a few beers sitting on the dock staring at it trying to figure out what it might be useful for.

actually what this loop is for when u take cover off at end of winter, then u fold it up from outsides to middle, then turn over and put nylon rope around it to store it

actually, i drank a few beers and stared at it for a while, and made all that crap up about storin it, seein if u all would bite on it

It came with the boat, but it is an original Seadoo cover.

Maybe it is just to give you something to grab on to in order to lift it. I know when mine is on and stretched, it is as tight as a drum.
If it rains and I dont have the pole in the middle, there is no way your fingers can grab the canvas to lift it and get the water to drain.

I'm thinking you're probably right, John. It just gives a lift point to allow the water which has pooled to run off. Kind of a *itch to reach though...

It is to lift the cover when it is stretched on.It stops the water puddling in the middle. You just attach it to a skyhook to keep it lifted.

Skyhook? I remember searching for one of those when I was at cub scout camp. Biffitis is correct though, Only Reed Richards could reach the loop when its on the boat.

It's called a thread starter and gives us something to post about in the winter!???
