What should voltage be to the buzzer?

'97 GSX buzzer not working. Replacing with Radio Shack #2730795 which works on 3-16 V. but it's not working. Repeated tries putting the lanyard on the post, I'm only measuring between .5 and about 1.3 volts at most. What voltage should I be seeing?

You should be seeing a full 12V at the buzzer as far as I know...

I literally just changed mine on 97 GTX. Went from a Old Post on this forum and my part numbers different. I couldn't get my meter to read it at all. I guess it was just too quick to register. The numbers just jumped a little for a second.

To test, you want to ground the wire to the temp sensor. The buzzer goes off constantly until you remove that wire from ground...

10.2 volts with the tempo sensor grounded (should have thought of that) and buzzer works. Apparently when lanyard not connected both wires to the buzzer go to ground. Buzzer only works one way, I had tested continuity to ground when I hooked up buzzer the first time, I guess when I got continuity on the first wire I assumed that was the ground wire and hooked up the buzzer backward. I can still only measure about 1 volt when lanyard attached but I guess that is just a function of the meter measuring the brief current. But buzzer now works. Thanks
