What have they done to my Supercharger?

Hi.
I just bought a -03 Seadoo GTX SC. Removed the SC to check it's condition when i noticed the strange looking impeller.
It looks like some have been cutting down the wings at the air intake. Is this some kind of performance modification I never heard of?
Too me it seems like this should give the opposite effect.

Any one that seen this before and have a clue?

What's the top housing look like? To me...that wheel's had a touchdown...odd that it didn't hit the outside of the blades....means....something got into the intake and hit the wheel....while the motor was running.

Top housing looks perfect. My only thought is that maybe a blade broke so instead of replacing the whole impeller they machined it down to preserve the balance. But if so, it doesent look very nice machined. The edges are very rough. Well I guess i have to replace the impeller anyhow... The previous owner said it run fine (before it dropped a valve) but with this impeller it must had some serious HP loss.

This. Doesn't look like a touchdown so much as something being sucked up into the supercharger. If that is all that is damaged, I have a few used wheels here we could sell.
