Just got 94 xp having newbee trouble, well . When you start out it want's to plane but when it gets going it seems like it blows out the impeller, shuts done and if you let off the throttle it goes back to a idle and tried again same thing .I think it cavitates and hits the rev limiter, does that sound right? Maybe a bad wear ring? If you try on the trailer in the water it turns about 6500 and stays there no cavitation or blow out.

So it doesn't lose power, it becomes unhooked?

In that case, you may be sucking air through the carbon driveshaft seal, where the driveshaft goes through the hull. Another possibility is the ride plate may not be properly sealed and it's sucking air from the pump area behind the boat between the plate and the hull and into the pump intake.

Yeah its hard to describe but it pulls good for about 50 feet and then revs wild and feels like it dies but if you let off the throttle it stays running. If you run it on the trailer in the water it will keep pushing against the winch tower, but you can feel it pushes hard.If you try to build up slow it does the same.

Since the 94XP doesn't have a carbon seal, it has a carrier bearing, most likely its the wear ring.
