What are these melted parts?

I had a severe exhaust overheat and found these melted plastic parts floating in the bilge (the bilge was full because the rubber water supply to the exhaust got brittle and broke due to overheating). Does anyone have an idea what these are from? Even the service tech did not know. I have a 2011 130 HP GTI. Thanks.

Upon further review, these parts are from the "exhaust support" which is located under the metal muffler. I suspect any overheat would melt this guy, mine just melted it big time. Thanks.

Take a look at your exhaust temperature sensor too. metal base, but its internals are plastic. Good chance it could be damaged too.

Thanks. The end result was replacement of a few exhaust hoses, exhaust temperature sensor and the melted exhaust muffler support. I expected alot more, but I got it all repaired for $350 including an oil change (less than I paid for spring service!). I did find out that I messed up by plugging the flush fitting on the rear. I read the manual over and over and found nothing about this fitting. Apparently, this flush fitting needs to be open. I have no idea why I plugged it, but someone must have told me to do it or I would not have (or I am loosing it!).

yea, the water flows out the flushing port while running. must have restricted it so much it couldn't cool, or flow correctly. Glad it didn't overheat & damage the exhaust manifold. I am guessing that was getting very hot as well.
