I have always used the black rubber original style, Parker Yamaha used to carry them. It doesnt take any special tool other than an impeller tool to do the job. Take the pump off, remove impeller, hacksaw, sawzall, or jigsaw cut the old ring in two places and it should come out. Be careful not to cut into the pump housing (aluminum or plastic), if you do a little JB weld sanded smooth will be an easy fix. Place the new wear ring in the freezer overnight and it will drop right into the pump. You will not need to an engine alignement tool, there is not any adjustment at the pump.
