I have a 1997 Seadoo with twin 717 motors. I bought it barely running. I bought two quality carb rebuild kits (at least based on the price I paid) that also came with new needle and seat. I have a manual and I took great pride in tearing them down, cleaning with carb cleaner and compressed air. When reassembling I found the kit had some extra parts. I say this based on the stuff that came out of the carbs at disassembly and the exploded view in the service manual. Those extra parts are a gasket that looks a lot like that key hole shaped o ring and an extra black rubber diaphragm that looks like the only differance is a smaller opening next to where the filter is. I used the original spring for the needle and seat as I understand that is what sets the pop off preasure and I don't have the tools to verify that. When I put the carbs back on they both do the same thing. They started right up and idle good at about 3000 rpm. When I throttle up you can hear the butterfly open and an increase in air but no increase in rpm. Nothing at all even at wide open position.. One thing I thought was odd is that the high speed adjustment screw was turned in all the way on one of them and the other was opened about 3/4 turn. To me it seams like maybe there is no fuel to go through the high speed jet. Has anyone ever run into this?
