wear ring assembly trouble

hi guys I'm up in the barn trying to put the jet pump back together having just installed a new wear ring.. trouble is that once it's installed and snugged up with the impeller shaft in the vice when i turn the housing it is binding on the impeller to the point that i can't turn it without tightening or loosening the impeller on it's shaft.. help

go back to square one and start again. You should mount the impeller without the ring in and see if you can slide the ring in while the impeller is in the housing. If you can't then the size is wrong. If it slides in then you are securing it wrong or it is not seated properly...

Pull the impeller back off and inspect the thrust bearing, you most likely pinched the bearing and will have to replace it.
