Hello. This is my first time posting in this forum. I have a 1995 seadoo hx 717. Its the first ski I have owned. I have had a problem with the exhaust overheating and after checking all hoses and lines I looked under the ski at the impeller and it doesent look good. Im attaching pictures i just would like to know how much damage im.looking at.Screenshot_20200810-092615_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092623_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092615_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092610_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092601_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092553_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092546_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092505_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092623_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092615_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092610_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092601_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092553_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092546_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092505_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092623_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092615_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092610_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092601_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092553_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092546_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20200810-092505_Gallery.jpg

your exhaust system,,,is not getting enough water to cool the parts,,,remove the hoses to your water fittings,,,clean them out with wire,,,check that water regulator into the water box fitting is also not blocked,,,check that the drain line is not partially plugged with sand,,,etc,,.check your hose connections,,,then start it,,, run water thru it ,,..,look to see that the pisser is pissing,,,

Ok thank you for the advice I will check all that tomarrow. How about the wear ring and impeller. Should I replace them. Seems to me the wear ring is pretty beat up

The wear ring clearance optimally is 1 mm max,,,you should be able to shine a strong flashlight and just see some light,,,,how does the prop look?,,,a chewed prop and wear ring will cause cavitation,,,and,,if the clearance is too much,,,then the jet pump will not be able to send the right water pressure into the motor,,,and that can also cause overheating issues....
Can you post pics of the wear ring and prop?

The impeller and liner do not look bad. I have run some pretty gouged up liners without much performance loss. Unless there is damage to the liner on the back side of the impeller I would not worry about it.

As for the over heating. What is happening that makes you think it is getting too hot? The exhaust system will get warm but you should be able to put your hand on any part of it without needing to jump back in pain.

As said before, check your water passages. The cooling for the motor and exhaust comes from a series of holes in the jet pump body between the impeller and venturi. If the holes and passage are blocked you are not going to get proper cooling. Check the other coolant lines and fittings for sand, weeds, anything that might slow the coolant flow. The "pisser" is the small water outlet fitting by the rear tow ring, after the machine is running for 30 seconds you should see water coming out of that fitting to tell you the cooling system is getting water in.

Welcome to the forum. We are here to help. Not trying to be unkind, but a couple of pictures are sufficient for your next post, too many pics might turn people off to your post or (for people like me) won't load due to spotty cell coverage.

Let us know what you find.
