Water Seal "Hat" Slipping

The Stainless mating ring (hat-lots of people call it that) on the water seal is slipping on the RX. I'm thinking of putting something on the shaft to help is grab the shaft a bit. Has anyone had to resort to such measures? :D Is so... what did you use?

You ok old man?

You know there is a stainless C-Clip and 2 o-rings that hold that thing.....

Or are you saying it is spinning on the shaft?

I'm fine. :D Those o-rings are not very good friction mechanisms. I have had this slip and squeal on occasion and I'm just wondering what people might use to cause a little grip without affecting the performance of the seal. I have a selection and I'm putting something on there. LOL

Interesting. I have been known to put a dab of marine grease on the hat to carbon interface but I guess some adhesive on the hat to shaft would work too.

The aftermarket fit on the hat probably isn't always up to factory spec. I've had issues with them previously but the generally get happy and cooperate. LOL I do love messing with these things. :D

Well it wasn't the hat slipping. :D Not my ski so I'm going by what I was told and the hat seemed to move really easily on the drive shaft. The whole dang jet pump was destroyed. I'm gonna check the length of the drive shaft with the buttons. I've had an issue with that on another ski. Not enough clearance or slack resulting in too much thrust load. Might need to leave a rubber bumper out or cut one shorter.

Actually it wasn't slipping. The whole dang jet pump was destroyed. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. Water got in but how. I loctite the 3 small bolts on the front of the pump. Strange. Maybe it all started with a bad bearing internally. They are all new now.
