Water inlet screen in jet pump

Hey guys. Working through inspecting my exhaust cooling loop after getting P1544 last time out when at higher RPM’s. Pulled the jet pump to check the screen there. It’s clear however seems like it sure could get blocked easily.
My question, is it possible to remove that screen and just install an in-line strainer prior to the IC? Instead of that little screen in the jet pump housing?

What ski ??
The exhaust systems have three cooling holes in either the J pipe or header pipe depending on what ski u have

Sorry forgot to say. 06 RXP. Not talking about the j pipe. Referring to the little water screen that screws out from the jet pump that screens the raw water intake.
