Hi all

This is my first post here.
I am looking for some help.:bigear:

I have a 98 GTX Ltd it has just had a crank kit installed, The ski ran great for an hour then started to make a knocking sound, misfired and shut down.
When i got it running again it was running very rough and would not pick up the RPM's. I thought the cranked had moved, but when I removed the cyl head the PTO cyl was full of water and oil.

My question is this, do you think it is just a bad head gasket, ie not torqued correct, or is there something else I should check.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hummmmm....

If the engine was running... even with a leak... it should have pumped the water out. If the jug was full... the leak would be obvious of where is was coming from.

Since you have an 951 engine... you have a real head gasket. I would put a straight edge on the block, and the head, to make sure it isn't warped, and look for any cracks. If everything checks out... put on a new head gasket with some copper coat.

I would also check the exhaust manifold gaskets.

Needless to say... you need to get that water out of the jug, and everything re-oiled so the crank bearings don't rust up.

Good luck

Thanks

I will check the head and block today. I have dried out the engine as much as I can and covered the cylinder walls with oil, also poured oil down to the crank. I am praying that it will not rust out.
Will let you know what I find later.
