Water coming out of vent

Real quick question, 97 xp! When I hook up a garden hose to the back of the machine and turn it on there is water coming out of the vent on the left side. Is this normal or do I have something hooked up backwards.

That is normal and called a "pisser". It is a visual indicator when you are riding that cooling water is flowing in the system.

You better not have the engine off and the water on!!!!!

NO! Engine is on and water is on at the same time, I thought that vent on the side sucked air in guess I was wrong cause on my 96' it doesn't piss water like this one does. Thanks for all your help mikidymac.

Your 96 should piss water out the back below the tow hook.

Yes on the 96 it does come out the back, so on the 97 it's just a visual so you have a peace of mind that it cooling properly, gotcha. Thanks again.
