Hello, I am new to this forum.
I have owned jet skis in the past and just recently acquired a 1996 SPX.
Looking to purchase a water box that would make my ski sound better than stock.

It seems that all the older Westcoast and Factory parts are hard to come by as with any older ski.
I used to own 7 Kawasaki stand ups.
5 JS 550’s and 2 650SX’s.
All which I had experimented with PJ’s, Coffman and Westcoast exhaust and waterboxes.
I’m experienced in the workings of them and performance gains they can make.
As for my new ski, I am just looking for a better sounding tone from the exhaust.
I’ve considered the TDR waterboxes and wondering if anyone has used them and could give some feedback.
Thanks guys.

You will not gain any performance at all but it will make it louder and more obnoxious to other people that is not good for our sport.

You can contact @Matt Braley if you have to have one.

I understand that.
And honestly unless you live in California I don’t see how sound would be obnoxious.
I live in North Carolina and the lakes are large enough that sound wouldn’t be an issue.

Would you have any recommendations for a toned waterbox that would be slightly louder than stock?

It isn't just here in California as a lot of lakes in the country would love any excuse to ban PWC's.

But to your point most are quite a bit louder than stock and get anoying for the operator too.

There are no new ones made so you will have to buy a used one. The person I linked is Matt Braley and he has a stash of about every aftermarket part for these skis and can point you towards the one you should get and probably has a few for sale. He is a regular and will chime in soon.

I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA
I know how California works.
You have a valid point with lakes banning PWCs in California, heck I remember when they were trying to ban 2stroke everything a couple years back.

Out here in North Carolina it is definitely different. I was honestly thinking about modifying the stock waterbox to get a exhaust tone that would stand out from the rest. And yes, I know I’m going completely “Honda Ricer” about this as I pretty much just want to put a “fart can” exhaust on my ski. Thank you for the advice and I will ask your recommendation for anything he may have laying around that would help with my ski to sound better.

$125 shipped for a good used TDR. As Miki said it doesn't add performance necessarily but just makes it sound like a race ski.

Opening up the water box and removing a baffle might be a happy medium.

Thank you for the reply.
I’ll try modifying my stock water box and if I’m not pleased with the outcome, I will contact you about a used TDR box. Thanks again
