Can you wake surf with Jet Engines. My buddy has a newer 21ft Ski Nautique with the V drive and Ballast, I know the perfect set up is with a V drive so that the engine is in the back and not in the middle of the boat and with ballast filled on one side.

But has anyone done it with jet drives

Yeah lots of people do it. Its not the most ideal conditions though. The wake is small. For beginners it might not be too bad but anyone with any experience will get bored quickly. They do make some nice new wake edition boats though. I havent seen any actually on the water but I would think they would do pretty well.

Yeah I misread that. Yeah I got a friend who does it all the time with a Malibu boat. I dont really see that happening with a jet driven boat. You might have luck with one of the new wake edition boats but thats about it.

I agree Rich..To wake surf you will need a deeper flater hull, and on top of that several water ballast to weight one side of the boat down in order to produce an adequete depression in the waterline, which creates the wake needed... run on sentence..i know...sorry all english teachers out there..

I experimented with that quite a bit. I nearly doubled the weight of my C2K with fat sacs, placing them everywhere and observing the results.

My conclusion is that it's much more dependent upon hull design than the choice of propulsion system. Jetboats have v-shaped hulls, generally a good thing unless you're doing something specific... like creating a symmetrical wake (for wakeboarding) or a surf wave (for wakesurfing). Wakeboats transition to a flatter transom/hull line which has a huge effect on the size and shape of wake that is created.

We ended up buying a wakeboat specifically because we couldn't get our jetboat to do what you're trying to do. You may be able to play around with it a bit, but I think you'll end up disappointed. It's just not what jetboat hulls are designed for.

I know it wont work, But it will be a good excuse to be on the Water. To bad I dont have a really fat mother inlaw ....lol
