Howdy all from the oven that once was Alabama! With all the talk about MPEM's frying I am concerned that if I replace the VTS motor if I stand a chance of doing some other electrical damage. The PO said that the motor was just burnt but he told me some other things that simply wasn't true about other parts of this boat. Is there a method I can use to check it out without risking other parts. Thanks and

pop off the cover, disconnect the two wires, run leads from those wires to the battery, if the vts moves,, reverse polarity, and if it moves the other way, the motor is good, otherwise, its toast, the motor is easy and cheap, its the module that isn't... note: you might replace the motor only to find out the module is fubar but one step at at time.

I am having the same problem with mine and my motor is bad but can't you check the module in the same way as the motor? If you connect the motor to a battery and it moves then reverse the polarity and it moves the other direction then can't you use a votl meter on the module side to see if the output is +12V and -12V?

ok this may be a dumb question but where is the module ? is it in the mpem box or in the vts housing? i tested my girls vts motor and its good goes both ways. swapped in a good known bar switch, nothing . so im assuming its the module.

It's the black box behind the vts motor housing.

I'm in the process of making a fix via research and other sites. Thinking about making a full CLEAR write up with pics for this forum. If I get it working I will make a thread on it/how to.
