VTS only works if i manually put it up and then the motor will pull it back down but if is down it won't go back up? Is there a sensor or something bad? Thanks any help is appreciated!

vts mechanical

have you checked the linkage ans screw for binding???? lube with silicon grease.
also have you looked at the motor??? has it gotten wet and corroded?
also when you press the up switch do you have a faint click from inside the vts module?

i've been working my 96 gsx. it had blown the fuse in the electrical box and the motor doesnt get power to move when that happens, but the point is, when i'd press the up or down button i would hear the click of a relay from inside the vts module and the point to that is, it confirms that vts module sees the swithes (both). in your case your down work but your up switch might be bad. prove it out by listening for the click. good luck, keep your head clear.

I checked the 7.5 amp fuse and its good i replaced the vts motor also. I hear the click which mean the switch is good. How much is it to replace the VTS Contol box?

I would take the VTS motor out and see if it spins both ways when you hit the switch. If it does when it is out of the box, there is either something binding the slide block or worm screw or there isn't enough voltage getting to the motor to spin it under a load.

If it doesn't spin one way out of the box with the up/down switch, unplug the two wires going to the motor. Attach a jumper wire to the - battery post and to the frame of the motor (i.e. ground the motor). Jump one of the 2 motor wires to the + battery post to see if the motor runs. Jump the other motor wire to the + battery post and see if it runs the other way. If the motor runs both ways jumping to the battery, you probably have a bad VTS control. If it doesn't run one way, you've probably got a bad motor.
