wondering if anybody has added a sub-woofer to their utopia... and if so, where did you put it?... I want to add one but the audio shops I have gone to say there is no-where to put one...

I am sure there is some place you can make it work. I dont really know the layout of the boat. I will try to find some pics and see what looks like it would work.

there is always a place to mount a sub. i had an 8 inch sub on my old GSX ski. you should be able to find a place to stick a 10 or 12 inch sub on any boat

It is basically a sacrifice. I am pretty confident that you can build a box to fit under either of the bench seats. That is probably the only space.

The problem with under the seat is there is a thin and flimsy fiberglass shell for storage... it would vibrate like hell... honestly stuck here - I need to hear from somebody who has done it... the guys at future shop said there is nowhere to put one... do you still need a sub woofer if I decide to add a wakeboard tower and put speakers on it?

I am thinking that you build a box that goes in there. Otherwise, I can only think of a sub box and put it in the Utopia's trunk.

jimmy2liter, check out my thread under "Modify!" section entitled "The Stereo Journey Begins". It is sticky'ed at the top. I am currently doing just that, adding a subwoofer and a whole lot more, including tower speakers to a 2006 Utopia 205.

If your shop says they cant add one, they are idiots! you could add one under the back benches, probably could do up to 6, 8" subs there if you don't mind loosing your storage. You could do 2, 10" subs in the walkway up to the bow, on the sides towards the floor. You will see there is a nice big flat spot on each side. Pull up and then out on your bow cushions to remove them. behind them is a big opening for access. You will see there is ample enough room to build a box in there. Any installer worth more than a pile of dog dung could put a sub box in there by building the box. Then cutting out the the opening big enough to slide the box in until it is flush. Use some brackets to secure the box. Seal it with some good silicone, trim with some nice aluminum or stainless and you, my friend, have a sub on your boat! If they are really good, there is some good amount of area to mount a sub under the passenger dash facing towards the floor. I was going to do this but couldn't quite get my 12" to fit. I know you could do a slimline 10" with box in there easily! You will see on my thread how I am doing my sub and that is another option as well.

That seriously irritates me that they could be that non-imaginative! Hope this helps. Any way I can help, holler.

I was just showing my wife this thread and after thinking about it, I could fit 23 subs in my boat easily. That would include 2-12" subs, 10-8" subs, 5-10" subs, 2 12" subs, and 6-15" subs! All while maintaining a semi-stock appearance and full boat function!

BTW, I hope I didn't offend any of you that replied already. Your not professional installers so I wouldn't expect any of you to know how and where. The people he was speaking of are though and should become Ostrich's and go put their heads in the sand!

just found your thread under "Modify"... I will be posting there on a further basis... I can't tell you how many people I've talked to about this and gotten no-where... until now... awesome...

Yeah just lookin at the pics and not seeing the boat in person i had a few ideas. I am just an amateur hobbyist even. What a bunch of Morons.
