Utopia HIN Number verification?

HI, I am lookng at importing a seadoo from the US (florida) to New Zealand and have my eye on a 2004 seadoo utopia 185. I asked the dealer for a HIN number (US - GEC10049K304)which I had a search done on and it came back with the following info.

Nothing at all about Seadoo. Is this a genuine seadoo HIN or could it be a racket as it is a registered boat dealer?

Ask for a copy of the registration, It will have the previous owners name and all information on the Hull ID #and registration. It sounds a little fishy.

The dealer is the Monroe Harbour Marina. If it is genuine it seems a good buy for the money. Our Kiwi jetboats are pure river runners with few if any creature comforts and I'm looking for a little more style. Cheers - Charlie in NZ

After further research it looks like he gave me the wrong HIN. It should have been CEC..... not GEC..... as was supplied. He sold the boat yestarday anyway. Hopefully not to someone watching here! Better luck next time I guess.
