I have 4 kids and lots of friends. I bought a new GTI 130 and everyone asks if they can try it. I told them it is in the break-in period and I would rather not let anyone ride it. I offer to take them for a ride. They all make me feel like I am not being fare. What is the protocol regarding letting people use your ski. I am getting real tired of the looks and comments from people. Of course my kids always go out on my boat and think I am in fair since I won't them ride the ski out. Chip in for gas, never.

It's your ski, Paul. You bought it. You put fuel and oil in it. You pay the insurance. You pay the gas to get it there and for the vehicle to pull the trailer to the lake. It's up to you! If they want a ski, they can go buy one! Some VERY good deals out there on used ski's. Help them find a good deal so they can have their own ski's to ride.

JMHO YMMV

I won't let my kids use mine so there is no way their friends are. If a ride is not good enough then I would ask them to leave. I work too hard for my toys so I'm not going to let someone else damage them. Funny how your kids will find out who their real friends are vs friends just coming over because you have cool stuff.

After I owned my first set of skis I do not think I will let anyone try out my doo boat or any other ski I get. Heck no one dared ask to barrow or drive my old boat (maybe due to the size) and I liked that. Only had 2 people ever pitch in for fuel or help fix anything and one (brother) offer to tow with his truck.

Almost every time I hear of damage being done to a ski it's almost never the owner, it's someone who borrowed it.

I have 2 skis. I have let a couple select friends use one but only while I am with them, never alone. I have been asked to borrow and ever rent out my skis or quads but NO way. No one else will take care of them like you do because they did not pay for them.

I have done MINIMAL damage to my own ski's. I have had more than a few bruises and dings done by others.
No EVER has bought my fuel, oil, registration, license plate expenses, the gel-coat to fix their errors, ect ect ect..

It is always just me in the driveway getting them ready to go and dong whattever needs to be done with them...

So I would not feel bad if you do not allow others to operate the boat.

One thing to SERIOUSLY consider is, if they hurt someone who will go down for it? I carry a separate million dollar umbrella coverage ($99 a year), just to be safe.
