Hey guys and gals, I posted on here a couple of weeks ago when I was looking to purchase a 2000 GTI with supposed head pipe bolt issue. Well, I found a guy close to my house on Craigslist who worked on them. I took it to him and he replaced the starter and gas and fired her off. He took her to the lake and ran her for 30 min and she ran like a champ. Also, there was no leak in the head pipe bolts. Long Story short...I paid him 170.00 for the repairs and bought the ski for 875.00. Cant wait to pick it up today and get it cleaned up! Thanks for y'alls advice!

Wow, good find. Was that including the starter? Sounds like you found a good local guy to do work for you.

Yep...It was with the starter and he bought 5 gallons of gas and put in it, not to mention the 8 miles to the lake. A good honest local mechanic is hard to find...The dealership here is a bunch of arrogant turds! This guy is about to work on a friend of mine's ski today.

People have trust issues when dealing with people on CL; but for the most part they will work twice as hard to make you happy. Word of mouth is king.

I am one of those guys on CL...I prob would have been ~ $200 though.
