Would anyone please recomend a two stroke oil to me from seadoo i know they have a couple different kinds but which is best for my 96 xp

This is the big roundtable discussion hehe.

Everybody has there own gig about/with oil but since you said "from Seadoo" and there are 2 different ones I'm thinking your talking about XP-S Mineral and XP-S Synthetic (there 2 hi-end ones).
To B honest, you have a carb model ski and you "don't" have to actually use the more expensive syn oil (like if you have a direct inject model). If it were me, I would seek a different outlet or resource like Amsoil or even your local Walmart (they have gals of semi-synthetic very reasonable).

Remember this (and I'm pro SeaDoo) right?
Bombardier doesn't "make" their own oil, they don't have even one refinery period. They outsource to an actual refinery that will produce the oil they want (their specs of course which are tada... secret of course b/c they don't want you to know that (ie) coffee all comes from a coffee bean!). It's a big scare game to be honest as how the Mfgr's insist you use their oil "or else!".

Not saying 1 oil isn't as good as the next, there is plenty of differences like some keep your power valves a bit cleaner than others etc.

So the debate goes on

go with the seadoo oil

XPS - synthetic $50/gallon
XPS - regular mineral oil $30/gallon

Worth the money compared to off brands since you don't really use that much of it. A gallon of oil lasts through 40-50 gallons of gas.

If your machine has RAVE valves you need to use synthetic because regular mineral oil will leave more deposits on them. In the absence of RAVE valves regular XPS mineral oil should be fine.

Do you really want to put 2-stroke wal-mart or home depot oil in your machine even it is only $10/gallon? Other marine-grade 2-stroke oils would run $25/gallon, so you really don't save anything. It's hard enough keeping these skis running the right way, so I wouldn't take any unnecessary chances.

Just a footnote,
Walmart doesn't have their own brand of oil that I know of, the oil I mentioned at Walmart are branded like Castrol, Havoline etc. and run in the $20-25 range.

Stick with seadoo oil you cant go wrong. Or get a synthetic that has low ash. do not use tcw3. Remember you ski rpm go higher than most other engines. some oils cannot lubricate the rotax enging properly when driven hard.

Both my 1998 GTIs had to have the engines rebuilt by the original owner.
He always had the dealer service his SeaDoos, so I'm sure he was using their mineral oil.
After rebuild, he used AMSoil and I am sticking with that.
Cheap compared to a $2,200 rebuild.
