I hope someone can give me some good advise. I own a couple 2-stroke skis and have an opportunity to buy two 2007 RXPs for $6,000 with trailer. I took both for a test ride tonight and they ran fine to me, top speed was 55 mph. I cam home to do some research and read about the supercharger issues. Both skis have 91 hours on them. The seats are also a little torn but otherwise in good shape. Is $6,000 too much if the superchargers are bad? Thanks for any insight you guys can provide

Anticipate spending a grand on the SC's and covers for the seats.

IMO they are worth 6 grand. But I'd try to get them lower as the SC MUST be rebuilt. If they have ceramic washers he is lucky that there hasn't been engine damage.

So if you buy them, service the SC before you truly enjoy the skis.

Some pics to help

Top speed should be between 67-70 mph in smooth water. Check for noise from the aft end of the engine where the SC is. Could also be that the SC clutch is worn out and is not producing. Either way the 55 is what you get when the SC is not working correctly. If replacing the SCs is all that is wrong, then 2X $866 for new or $400 for rebuilt(sent out) plus whatever for the seat, you have a good deal.

I'm with Doc on this one. Top speed is way low for a SC ski. If the were the 155 models then you'd be right on the money but not for the 215s.

Thanks for the input. Glad I did some research otherwise I would have rode them all weekend. I still think it is to good to pass up.

The 2-strokes had the grey fuel lines now the 4-strokes have the washer problem. There are a lot of problems with seadoos

Yes and no. The washers were a bad design that seadoo corrected in the 4 strokes. It became a problem when people didn't replace them or ignored the maintanace schedule even on the updated washers. That's where they get a bad rep about superchargers failing and taking out the engine with them. Proper maintanance reduces the chance of that happening drastically.

I do have to agree that 6K for those is a good deal. Knowing what you know now about them I'd try and get an even better deal on them if you can.

At 55 mph the chargers are more than likely blown. I would be afraid of one of the engines tanking due to particles from the chargers. In the end however. Even if one does tank. At $6000 you're getting a buy one get one free. If you're mechanically inclined I'd probably take the plunge on those and pray on the chargers need a rebuild to get you on your feet.

Those look like 155's....no sc ic stickers on them.

Agreed. These look exactly like my RXP 155 (NA) ski. Same stickers and everything.

Top speed around 52-55mph so far. (haven't hit glass-like water yet)

If it makes you feel better, I paid $7000 for just one ski. (I live in Australia so we have ridiculously high prices)
