trouble shooting mpem

i have a 2000 gtx 951 motor carb did static test resistance was good 248 ohms, Now a take off one of the white wires that goes to the coil and do a light test and i get nothing light daes not light up should it !!!!! thanks jeff

I'm not exactly sure what wire you are talking about... but if it's the wire feeding the ignition coil... no, it shouldn't be lighting a test light. That wire gets a HV pulse when the plug is suppose to fire.

Post up a pic, so we know exactly what you are testing.
 
yes it is the white wire that comes from the mpem to my ignition coil t thought it should light up when crank over motor it lights up on my 1998 gtx thanks
 
You may want to check it with a volt meter that can read a peak. On that MPEM, I believe the "CDI" is built into it. You need to look for a 100V to 300V pulse while cranking.

If you want to look for it with a test light... you will need a little neon HV test light.
