Hey guys,
Today I accidentally trimmed one of my spark plug leads on my GTX RFI slightly too short. Its long enough to reach the spark plug but is under a bit of tension.

How can I fix the issue? Is it possible to simply replace the leads running to the little coil box on the side of the ski?
How hard is it to open the box?

Thanks guys! :)

You can replace that wire without buying a new coil, the longer of the two is pn#278001465 save the resistor cap as you'll need to reuse it.

Thanks for the replies, Do I need to open up the coil box or can i just unscrew them out of the box?

It's just a press fit, but as Sportster recommended it's easier to rotate and pull it at the same time to get it in and out. Coat the connector on the new one about half way up from the very end with dielectric grease and pop it back in.

If you need to order that check out http://seadoowarehouse.com/ and ask hfgreg here on the forum for help he can hook you up with OEM parts and it helps support the site.

Yeah, I'm thinking you need to remove the coils from the e-box, that's probably how I'd do it. Then reinstall the coils once the wires are shoved back into the coil towers while feeding the wires through the grommet in the side of the box before installing the plug connectors.

A bit of silicone dielectric grease for automotive spark plug wire boots is the stuff you'll want for those.

Thanks for the replies guys, so if I go the full wire replacement from an auto store, I don't need to measure resistances or anything? Just buy a good quality bosch replacement?

There is a resistance factor in the OEM wire / cap setup, but it's in the cap itself which just twists off counterclockwise. If you look closely at the cap you'll see it's marked.

I'm sure the wire is resistance type, I'd measure and try to match it up (Ohms/ft). Keep the sweet sound!
