I bought 96 seadoo spx and was told variable trim gauge didn't work? How can I trouble shoot? Is there a way to adjust without the gauge?

If button doesn't work can you over ride some how.

Dirtdiver

if the button works you can still adjust it , if not you will have to order a new button.... you can hold it up till it goes all the way up and down till it goes all the way down and just center it so you will be good for the water not knowing what postion it will be in the water lol

If I have someone help and stand behind ski what part will move is it visual while on the trailer? Thanks for the help new to this stuff

Dirtdiver

ya it is visial, if you pull your seat off and look at the bacl of the ski you will see the vts system, now if you go behind the ski and look at the jet pump(thing with the impellor in it) then you will see it has a bar on the side which will be the steering cable and then there will be another on top and that is the vts bar, it should move the nozzle up and down

On my buddies he had 2 get an actuator for his, but usually you would get atleast up or down if the switch goes. Try using a jump wire instead of the switch i'd say its the actuator. Check the actuator for continuety. sp

I know this may sound stupid but he engine should be running or can I just push down on-the-job button where the safety lanyard goes?

David

pretty sure you have to fire it up but i'm not sure. try it with just the lanyard in first it may work. if you do it running hook up the hose or do it supper quick.

Well I put the hose on it pushed the trim button and nothing? Looked at the trim box didn't open but super clean outside the ski has 150 hours is that alot for a 96?

David

150???? The hour function was not available in '96. You must be dreaming.
Open the vts motor cover and apply 12v direct to see if it responds.

Sorry I was told it had and i haven't had paid attention to any gauge yet but thanks and i will put 12v to the motor and see what happens.
