just purchased a new 2009 wake 155 specifically for towing tubes with the kids on board but i have seen posts where towing these with the factory ski pylon might not be such a good idea might damage it. factory says keep the pole extended but for tubes it looks like it would be stronger if it was down while tubing. its a newer model with what i thought was a better redesigned pylon stronger etc. what are your thoughts guys? thanks.

The pylon was created to give the skier or boarder a higher tow point. Easier to get up outa the water and also make it a bit easier to "get air".

I left my pylon down or left it up for the extra set of eyes to have a good hand hold and then used the tow hook when pullin a tuber.

Wow...BRP's frgn pennypinchers strike again. do you have two tow hooks down low in back?....if so...I'd use those. See...when there is a load on the raised pylon at speed it lifts the bow of the boat higher outa the water. not the most comfortable ride for the driver and watcher. A skier ain't bad...no where near the drag of a tube.

They sell a tow rope set up which comes with a double hook point and float to keep the rope away from the impeller. I'd be looking for something alonge that line....no pun intended.

the 2009 and 2010 wake 155 models are based on the gti hull which does not have any tow hooks or tie down loops on the back of the transom so the ski pylon is all there is.

I have two 07 Wakes 155 and I pull tubes with the pylon extended so the observer can hold onto it. They seem to be plenty stong. If they can pull a skier out of the water then pulling a tube should not be an issue.
