Towing a slalom skiier

Hey guys,

I have a 1996 Seadoo GSX and a 1997 GSX....I have never towed or tried to tow a slalom skiier up out of the water. I have done double just fine and tubes. I am curious if the boat would be able to bite the water hard enough to get me (165 pounds) out of the water on a slalom ski. It is not a performance ski, just a combo set of HO's with a slalom, but I want to get up with just one ski, not two and drop. I'm going to try it but the things have 110 horses, I just dont question how that jet connects with that water. Very differently than a prop on a ski boat does. Once I was up I know I'd be fine, maybe I will just have to work a little harder to get up? Any thoughts?

I think it will work just fine with 165 lbs, if the wear ring is in good shape and you are getting good thrust.

I have that same engine in a 14.5" boat and it pulls me out of the water instantly with a wakeboard or surfboard, and I was 220 lbs (now down to 190-ish, so even better:hurray:).

That is what I thought! Yea, the wear ring and everything is in great shape, so I will see what it does! Thanks for the reply! :-)

yeah, cavitation will be more of a problem then horsepower. especially when getting up on one ski it takes alot and you want the pull out of the water to be quick and painless. i learned to slalom on a crappy old boat that i had to be under water for about ten seconds before it would pull me out. :ack:
