This is something I learned from an airplane mechanic, I do it when I winterize. I take about a 10' piece of nylon webbing, I use bright orange and tie it around everything I have disconnected or clamped off, then tie the other end around the starter button. This serves as a reminder to reconnect or un-clamp when I de-winterize in the spring. You could do the same thing when you clamp or turn off the valve.
