So I took the ski out today for a test run( this is my first jet ski). It ran ok. I ran it for maybe 10 minutes due to the whitecaps on the bay. When I brought it back to the trailer and hit the start/stop button to kill the motor, the ski turned off but then immediay I heard like a whizzing sound coming from the ski. It scared me so I pulled the lanyard and it stopped. If I was guessing, it was some sort of gear spinning.

Well after that, I tried to start again. Nothing. No beeps no lights no start. I opened the hood to look for the fuse box, it's not in the front so I shut the hood and let it drop down from less than halfway shut. Then I heard one long beep. I looked at the gauges And I think the temp and fuel light stayed on. I hit the start button and nothing. I disconnect the lanyard and tried advanced diagnostic mode- no beeps. I give up for the moment so the kids could have some beach time.

I get home, disconnect the positive on battery and check the the fuse box, fuses are not blown. I looked at all the internal connections in the box an all seems clean. I get an idea to connect the battery and as soon as I touch the positive cable to the battery- it starts to turn over!!! No beeps-no one is touching the start button-no wires(that i can see) are not frayed or disconnected. The lanyard was connected but that was it.

I try to duplicate the issue and sometimes I get one long beep w 4 red lights on gauges but then nothing... Then sometimes it starts to turn over again...
I have no clue where to start... Any help would be REALLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

sounds like 2 seperate issues, the 1 long beep or no beep just sounds like your lanyard is not making good contact which is not unusual for the older skis, I sometime have to put mine on 4 or 5 times before i get 2 beeps. try cleaning the contacts on the lanyard with a pencil eraser

yip, i have to put mine on twice all the time, if not more.... it happens, as far as the wizzing, those were my two best guesses, but i had a buddy with a bad solenoid, and the only way to stop it was to disconnect the dam battery,. and it was a wizzing mo fo until we did :)

Dang... A double whammy... I'm currently on vacay in a little town on the Texas coast. Don't think I'll find a jet ski shop around here for that solenoid. Is the part seadoo specific or is this a part that can be had at autozone?

If you want to get creative you can use a universal solenoid like for a lawn tractor, but you will need to cut your wiring to do it, then splice it back together when you get the correct solenoid.

I have an extra one.
Not sure how long you are going to be on vacation.
I can send it out priority.

Thanks for the offer Lou! We're heading back home Tomorrow so I'll just pick one up when I get home. Thanks.
