Top rpm's on 97 gtx 787

I had a 97 gtx given to me, excellent condition but it has a leaking RV shaft seal on the crank. Since my last year as a Doo mechanic was in 95 I have very limited experience with, what I call, the "newer" motors (anything larger than a 650). My question is what should the top rpms be with an all stock configuration (motor, exhaust, carbs and intake, impeller). If the tach was right it was around 6850 +- with 53.2 mph on gps. The impeller is in great shape as is the liner.

I cleaned the rave valves and downloaded the service bulletin on the slotted valves and notched cap. Have not looked at the water valve yet.

The rough running at mid throttle is there, I'm looking forward to taking that on.

Your good on the rpms. That’s about where u should be.

Please let us know if you have any luck with the mid range issue. Quite a few of us are still chasing that one.

Will do. It might be a while though, summer is drawing down. We saw our first v formation of geese heading south yesterday.
