I've just gotten a '98 Sportster 1800 - first boat I've "owned"... I'm trying to assemble a reasonable tool kit and a few spare parts that can come in handy. We'll be trailering the boat to wherever we go, so without going overboard, I was just wondering some of the members would say the handiest things to have around were.

Aside from the basics, couple of screwdrivers, pliers, crescent wrench, and a knife/blade of some sort - what do you carry around in your boat with you?

spark plugs, tie-wraps, electric wire, electric tape.

And a basic ratchet set. + all you mentioned above. Carying a Pick tester might be a good idea to identity simple electric problems on water.
