I am new to this forum not really new to seadoo but just purchased two 1996 xp's and i read alot on here that people have switched to premixing their fuel and some that say dont do so i would love to hear what the reason for or against are please and gotta say i really love this forum very informative

well

here is a list of pro's and con's

Pro's

no worry about engine or bearing failure due to oil pump failure (unless you forget to add oil to your gas)

Con's

higher oil cost
go through more plugs
the engine will smoke like crazy at idle
and this one is always up for debate , I believe reduced performance

not trying to talk you out of it, oil injection is just a much more efficent setup and does reduce costs

I went to premix because the little brass fitting on the pump had broke and did not want to spend 200 bucks to fix it.. seemed really brittle to me becase all i was doing was snapping the oil line back in place.

I feel a a lot better out on the water because I do ride pretty rough. I'm glad I broke it when I was working on it instead of riding.

When I took the pump off I also took the tuned pipe off to have it welded, changed the gasket for the tuned pipe, cleaned the carbs again, adjusted the carbs, and changed plugs.

I know the speedos aren't that accurate on the seadoos however after doing all this the speedo went from topping out around 46-48 to 52-53 and I can tell the difference in the top end. much more power so I don't really know if performance is hurt that much
